Today I will be discussing the TED Talk "What do all languages have in common?" by Cameron Morin. This TED Talk speaks about how languages shape human experience, and the cognitive aspects of learning a language.

Main points:

  1. Nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. These are present in all human languages.
  2. Different languages have common patterns in syntax and grammar, to help with understanding and communication.
  3. Languages reflects the cultural of its origin and influences different thought processes.
  4. Language acquisition involves innate cognitive abilities present in humans.
  5. Language is acquired as a cognitive process.

  6. Language guarantees that much cultural knowledge is not lost across generations.

  7. Artificial intelligence and machine learning can learn through the research of language universals.

  8. It's crucial to maintain the distinction of linguistic variation because languages is the study of humans and how we relate to each other and within ourselves.
